To empower women in our society, Mukul Madhav Foundation started computer classes for the women of Gramin Mahila Viks Kendra, Phansop and for the mothers of students at Mukul Madhav Vidyalaya. The course began in July 2013, in the premises of Mukul Madhav Vidyalaya and is being offered at a subsidized cost. These classes are being conducted by the school’s computer teacher.
We understand the importance of educating the mothers of our students and familiarizing them with the English language, which then makes it easier for them to take on the responsibility of their child’s academic development. With this view, we have also introduced basic English training for them.
In addition to this, a ‘Handicraft Workshop’ was organized for the women of the Gramin Mahila Vikas Kendra in an attempt to provide rural women with an opportunity to maximize their income generation potential.
In order to take a small step to solve the drinking water problem faced by villagers, we continued to implement drinking water supply schemes in the adjoining areas of Golap, with the help of Gram Panchayats of the respective villages.
Finolex, under “Rashtriya Gramin Peyajal Yojana” helped the Gram Panchayats of Kolambe, Bhatye and Phansop villages. Until these schemes were implemented, we organized a water supply to the villages from a well, by providing pumps, a pipeline and water tanks. While taking care of the water shortage, the company also extended financial help to the Gram Panchayats for payment of repair charges, electricity bills etc. in respect of the existing water supply schemes.
On the occasion of World Water Day, we reached out to people on our digital platforms through a video where we explained the importance of water conversation. We educated the audience and provided various simple ways through which they could save water and implement these tips in their daily life. Regions in Maharashtra faced severe drought and we saw extreme water shortage, which is when we decided to do donate water to farmers in need. With this view, we asked people to pledge to save water and the pledged amount was donated to the drought stricken region of Latur in Maharashtra.
On 5th June, 2015, on the occasion of World Environment Day we launched an innovation campaign on our social media platforms called #PaaniKiTarahMatBahao. We launched the campaign through a video to highlight the problem of water wastage and create awareness on the importance of water conservation. Using the catchphrase Paani ko #PaaniKiTarahMatBahao makes a strong plea to save water and not waste it.
Furthermore, as a part of its CSR activities, Finolex has undertaken a project to make potable water available to the villagers. Accordingly, a Water Filtration Unit has been installed on one of the wells at Bhatye village which has in turn greatly benefited the village.
